Piqua police reports highlights

PIQUA — The following are highlights from the Piqua police reports. All information is provided by Piqua police reports.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS HARASSMENT: A female reported receiving unwanted text messages and phone calls from her ex-husband on Aug. 19. An adult male was warned for telephone harassment.

SUSPICIOUS: A female on the 800 block of Brook Street allegedly posted pictures of marijuana plants on her Facebook page on Aug. 19. Police made contact with the female who stated that the photos were off of the internet. According to police reports, there were other drug related items found at the residence and they were placed into evidence to be destroyed.

There was a report of a white male jumping into traffic near Papa John’s on the 500 block of N. Main Street on Aug. 19 at 8:15 p.m. Police checked the area, and no one was located.

There was a report of young black males who had possibly fired a shotgun into the air while on the 600 block of South Street on Aug. 19 at 9:09 p.m. It turned out that one of the males had a fishing pole sticking out of his backpack and that a truck had backfired while at the fuel station, according to police reports.

ANIMAL PROBLEM: A resident stated she was afraid to leave her home on the 500 block of Orr Street on Aug. 19 at 9:38 a.m. due to an unknown dog at her back door. It was found to be a Rottweiler mix with a collar and no tags. Animal control removed the dog.

THEFT: A resident reported the theft of a money order on the 100 block of Mound Street. The report was made on Aug. 19, and it reportedly occurred sometime between Aug. 5-6.

FRAUD: A resident reported receiving a scam phone call on Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. The resident stated that a woman claiming to be from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office said that the resident was being investigated for fraud. When the resident called the sheriff’s office, they stated it was a scam.

A counterfeit bill was passed at Tim Horton’s on the 600 block of W. Water Street on Aug. 20. The bill was already deposited at the bank. The bank will forward the bill to the Secret Service.

DISTURBANCE: Police responded to a report of a disturbance on the 900 block of W. High Street on Aug. 19 at 12:37 p.m. A male juvenile was reportedly arrested for domestic violence.

There were reports of domestic disputes on Aug. 19 on the 1300 block of Arrowhead Drive at 6 p.m., on the 100 block of E. Grant Street at 11:21 p.m., and on the 600 block of S. Sunset Drive at 11:24 p.m.

A resident on the 700 block of Gordon Street claimed that her roommate had “grabbed her by the hair and pulled her hair,” according to police reports. The incident reportedly occurred on Aug. 20 at 9:53 a.m. Both the roommate and the complainant’s boyfriend stated that the argument was only verbal and did not become physical.

A female reported a male “kicking in the door of a residence” at the Piqua Village Apartments on the 1300 block Covington Avenue on Aug. 20 at 2:47 p.m. According to police reports, “the male was found to living at the residence but agreed to leave for the time being.”

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: A resident on the 200 block of Fourth Street reported a neighbor’s children “being mouthy” as well as the neighbor throwing trash in the resident’s yard and the neighbor’s dog digging up the fence, according to police reports. The conduct was reported on Aug. 19 at 6:49 p.m. The neighbor denied throwing trash into the resident’s yard, but the neighbor moved the dog away from the fence and told the children not to speak to the resident.

An officer reported seeing a group of juveniles around a juvenile being held back by another juvenile, appearing as if about to fight. The incident was seen at French Park on the 800 block of W. Water Street on Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. No one wanted to make a report, but someone admitted that they were trying to fight.

A complainant reported a male cussing at the complainant’s daughter after a disturbance between children had allegedly occurred on the 600 block of S. Roosevelt Avenue on Aug. 20 at 2:37 p.m.

A male and female at the Piqua Village Apartments were warned for disorderly conduct after an verbal argument about a dog on Aug. 20 at 3:25 p.m.

BURGLARY: There was a burglary reported at Smitty’s Bike and Lock shop on the 1000 block of Covington Avenue on Aug. 20 at 3:07 a.m.
