TROY — A Piqua man remains in the Miami County Jail charged with alleged possession of a loaded gun in his vehicle while he was intoxicated Wednesday morning.
Michael Minkner, 41, of Piqua, was arraigned on misdemeanor OVI, DUS OVI, and third-degree felony weapons while intoxicated, along with fifth-degree felony harassment by an inmate and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle in Miami County Municipal Court on Wednesday. His bond was set at $130,000 on all charges.
According to the police report, Minkner was stopped by Troy Police officers for driving under suspension. Upon investigation, Minkner was believed to be intoxicated and refused field tests. He was then arrested for OVI. A search of his vehicle revealed a loaded handgun in the center console. Minkner was transported to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office for tests. Once inside the building, Minkner allegedly spit at officers.
