Rummage sale planned

PIQUA — The fifth annual rummage sale, sponsored by the Mission Committee at St. Boniface / St. Mary Parishes will be held on July 8 and July 9 in the Caserta Center, 218 S. Downing, Piqua. Sale hours are Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Proceeds from the rummage sale benefit the parishes’ missionaries in Chile and Guatemala and their twinning project in Dominica. A variety of household items, toys, Christmas decorations, and more will be for sale. There will be home-baked goods, a food-stand, a purse/scarf/jewelry boutique, and complimentary religious items, too.

Donations are still being accepted for the rummage sale. Anyone wishing to make a donation may drop their items off at the St. Boniface Parish garage, 310 S. Downing, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or call Don Stonerock, 773-2400, to arrange pick-up.

Amazing Grace Day Camp planned

PIQUA — The Amazing Grace Day Camp ” The Water of Life” will be held Monday, July 10, through Friday, July 14, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 248 Wood Street, Piqua.

Day Camp is a week-long camp from 9 a .m. to 3 p.m. for those entering first grade through seventh grade without needing to stay away from home.

Energetic and enthusiastic counselors from Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Ohio (LOMO) lead the day camp in partnership with St John’s Lutheran Church, Piqua. Each day of camp is filled with activities that include crafts, singing, games, sports, Bible study, and special events. Breakfast and lunch is provided for the Day Campers and there will be a Family Night Thursday with ice cream treats!

VBS set at Fletcher United Methodist Church

FLETCHER — Fletcher United Methodist Church invites you to join us for the best days of summer at our MAKER FUN FACTORY Vacation Bible School. Vacation Bible Adventure set

PIQUA — Upper Valley Community Church, 1400 Seidel Pkwy., will be holding a Maker Fun Factory Vacation Bible Adventure on July 16 through July 20 from 6-8:30 p.m.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for walk-up registration. The event ends at 8 p.m. for three year-olds and 8:30 p.m. for four year-olds to fifth graders.

At Maker Fun Factory VBA, kids discover not only that God made them the way they are, but for a purpose, too. Maker Fun Factory is filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear, touch, and even taste! Sciency-Fun Gizmos™, team-building games, cool Bible songs, and tasty treats are just a few of the standout activities that help faith flow into real life. Since everything is hands-on, kids might get a little messy. Be sure to send them in play clothes and safe shoes.

Plus, we’ll help kids discover how to see evidence of God in everyday life—something we call God Sightings. Get ready to hear that phrase a lot! Your kids will also have the opportunity to participate in a missions project by donating pennies and change that will let the kids in our community show God’s mighty love to needy villages in Honduras.

‘Sunday Funday’ festival planned

PIQUA — After the Upper Valley Community Church’s VBA, join them on July 23 for the conclusion of our three week series, “Made For This!” at 9:15 a.m. or 11 a.m. Kids three years to fifth grade are invited to worship with their families as we conclude this series for all ages. The VBA Dance Crew, Gadgeteers, Steampunk Steve, Ian Ventor and friends will be there too!

Then stay for their first annual Sunday Funday on July 23. A festival for all ages starting at 12:45 p.m. They will have a live DJ, a food truck from Susie’s Big Dipper, lawn games, inflatables, picnic tables, and more. This is a free event for their church family and community.

Ice cream social and concert planned

PIQUA — Bethel United Methodist Church, 2505 E Loy Rd., will be be holding an ice cream social and concert on July 22 at 6 p.m. The ice cream social will be followed by a Peacefull Heart praise concert.

Peacefull Heart is a collection of original arrangements and compositions with inspirational stories and lyrics. The primary focus of the original compositions is sacred faith based with inspirations from the Holy Bible. The arrangements are improvisations on well known traditional hymns and melodies by other composers.

“Live Free” reading program returns

CASSTOWN — The Casstown United Methodist Church, thanks to a grant provided by the Miami Valley District of the United Methodist Church, will be offering the “Live Free” reading and activity program this summer for youth entering kindergarten through sixth grade.

The program will be offered once a week for five weeks on Tuesdays, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Casstown UMC, 102 Center St., Casstown. The dates of the program are: June 20, June 27, July 11, July 18 and July 25.

“Live Free,” which highlights reading skill development, will also include crafts, music and tips for healthy living. A healthy lunch and snack (following the Ohio Department of Education summer lunch program guidelines) is also included.
