ME locked down after bullets found

No weapon was found; student came forward

CASSTOWN — Miami East High School was placed on lockdown after two .22 caliber bullets were found in a hallway of the school Thursday morning.

According to the Miami East High School Principal Todd Gentis via a One Call Now, the student who had the bullets in their possession came forward after the incident.

The school was searched by Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

The lockdown was lifted around 8:45 p.m.

Seven to eight deputies came to the building to search. According to Superintendent Dr. Todd Rappold, the student accidentally brought the bullets to school and had them in their pocket and they fell out by the locker. The student’s parents were contacted and appropriate discipline will follow, he said.

“Deputies did a great job and it was resolved quickly,” Rappold said Thursday.
