Bluffton University grads named

BLUFFTON — The achievements of more than 230 undergraduate and graduate students were celebrated on May 7, during the 117th Commencement ceremony at Bluffton University. Local students include:

James Hudson of Troy earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational management.

John Prasko of Troy earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Christy Price of Troy earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Christina Shafer of Troy earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Douglas Shawver of Tipp City earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Belmont announces dean’s list

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The following students achieved the dean’s list at Belmont University for the spring 2017 semester. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

Josefovsky earns degree

DAYTON — Kerrie Beth Josefovsky graduated from the University of Dayton on May 7, with a degree in middle childhood education, Magna Cum Laude. Josefovsky is the daughter of Jody and Bonnie Josefovsky of Piqua.

Calhoun graduates from UC

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — On Saturday, May 6, University of the Cumberlands (UC) conferred 927 degrees during the annual commencement ceremonies. Among the graduates was Amanda Calhoun of Troy who earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.

DeFord inducted to honor society

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Renee DeFord of Casstown, Ohio was inducted into the University of Mount Union’s chapter of Lambda Pi Eta.

Lambda Pi Eta is the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Membership is by invitation and is for students whose major is part of the Department of Communication.

Local student athlete honored

DELAWARE, Ohio — Ohio Wesleyan University honored its outstanding 2016-17 student-athletes at the 13th annual Dale J. Bruce Scholar-Athlete Awards Dinner.

The celebration, held April 20, recognized Battling Bishop athletes from Ohio Wesleyan’s 23 varsity sports for their academic and athletic successes.

Daniel Frame of Tipp City earned the Top Fifty Academic Award. Frame competed in Battling Bishop Men’s Cross Country and Track and Field.

Brown graduates from Park

PARKVILLE, Mo. — Park University held its Kansas City Area Commencement ceremony on May 13, at the Community of Christ Auditorium in Independence, Mo.

Sharrie Anntanette Brown of Troy earned a degree in Business Administration.

Locals graduate from Ohio Christian

CIRCLEVILLE — The following local students graduated from Ohio Christian University:

Amanda Woodward of Tipp City graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management. Woodward is a member of the Pinnacle Honor Society.

Melinda Strohmenger of Troy graduated with an Associate of Arts in Business Management.

Howard Collier of Piqua graduated with a Master of Arts in Pastoral Care and Counseling.

Ricker named to dean’s list

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Joel Ricker of New Carlisle has been named to the Southeast Missouri State University dean’s list for academic achievement during the spring 2017 semester.

Students named to the list earned at least a 3.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, completed at least 12 hours of standard graded credit, achieved no grade below a B and received no failing grades in enrolled courses, including credit/no credit or pass/fail courses.

Students present research

FINDLAY, Ohio — Students at the University of Findlay recently participated in the annual Symposium for Scholarship and Creativity. Held on campus, undergraduate and graduate students were given the opportunity to share their research, creativity and professional learning experiences with the university and community. Many students received honors during the Symposium’s awards ceremony.

Local students include:

Christopher Capparelli of Troy was named to the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business.

Jake Eier of New Carlisle presented “The Effect of Decoquinate on Coccidosis Rates in Early Gestation Goats.”

Madison Gioiello of Tipp City was named as a graduating senior with a GPA of 3.6 or above.

Emily Mikolajewski of Piqua was named as a graduating senior with a GPA of 3.6 or above.

Carmeron Wardley of New Carlisle was named as a Dana Scholar.
