PIQUA — The following are highlights from the Piqua police reports. All information is provided by Piqua police reports.
THEFT: A purse was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on South Street over night between May 18-19.
A yard ornament was reported stolen on Wilshire Drive on May 19 on 10:45 a.m.
There was a report of a vehicle that was not being returned to the owner after a civil agreement to have the vehicle worked on. It was reported on South Main Street on May 19 at 11 a.m. During the investigation, the license plates from the vehicle were found to have been removed and placed on another vehicle without the permission of the owner. The suspect was arrested and incarcerated on the charges. Jacob E. Cassel, 22, of Piqua, was charged with fifth-degree felony theft in connection with this incident. He was released on his own recognizance from the Miami County Jail on May 22.
A lawn mower was reported stolen on Boone Street on May 19 at 1:30 p.m.
A wreath was reported stolen from the door of Remax on Park Avenue on May 19 at 2:45 p.m.
Medication was reported stolen from a residence on Broadway Street on May 19 at around 5:40 p.m.
A front license plate was reported stolen from a parked vehicle on South Roosevelt Avenue on May 19 at 8:20 p.m. The victim believed it could have been stolen within the last week.
HIT SKIP: There was a report of a damage to the tail light of a vehicle on South Wayne Street on May 19. It was found another vehicle had struck the complainant’s vehicle. The complainant was unsure of when the damage could have occurred.
DISTURBANCE: A disturbance was reported on Jill Court on May 19 at 9:30 a.m.
A disturbance was reported on Young Street on May 19 at around 5:30 p.m.
A disturbance was reported on Young Street on May 19 at approximately 6 p.m. Both subjects denied any physical violence or threats of violence, and the situation was resolved civilly.
MENACING: A complainant reported a known person threatening him on South Main Street on May 19 on 10:10 a.m.
There was a report of bullying at Piqua Central Intermediate School of one student by another between May 11-19.
SUSPICIOUS: There was a report of a male subject with a syringe that was possibly under the influence walking around the parking lot of Tim Horton’s on West Water Street on May 19 at 2:45 p.m. Once on scene, a subject was arrested and incarcerated on an active warrant. Other charges are pending.
There was a report of shots fired in the area of North Roosevelt Avenue and West High Street on May 20 at 12:40 a.m. Officers checked the area and found no evidence of any problems.
TRAFFIC ACCIDENT: There was a traffic accident in the area of North Wayne and West Water streets on May 19 at around 3:15 p.m. The at-fault driver was issued a citation for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
A traffic accident was reported near Red Lobster on East Ash Street on May 19 at 10 p.m.
A traffic crash with possible injuries was reported on South Street on May 20 at around 2:45 a.m. A vehicle struck two unoccupied parked cars. No one hurt, and the at-fault driver was cited.
