MIAMI COUNTY —On Tuesday, the Miami County Commissioners discussed possible improvements to the police memorial and approved an engineering agreement.
The board heard from Billie Ray, president of the Miami County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 58, who proposed improvements to the memorial to the county’s law enforcement officers.
The memorial on the northeast corner of the courthouse was installed in 1999.
“Since that time the bricks have settled and we feel that it’s necessary to do the work and get it taken care of,” Ray said.
The FOP has proposed removing the bricks, pouring a concrete slab and replacing the bricks. This project would be paid for by the FOP, Ray said.
The project could begin next month, Ray said.
“We appreciate your concern and taking care of that,” Commissioner Jack Evans said.
The board also signed an agreement for engineering service for the waterline extension loop to the Upper Valley Medical Center. Access Engineering Services of Celina will provide engineering design services for the project at a cost not to exceed $49,500.
This project will provide a secondary feed to the medical center, County Engineer Paul Huelskamp said.
