PIQUA — August is the month where most students are scrambling to pack in some summer fun while also having to give up some of those days for school prep and orientations. Incoming freshman at Piqua High School are not only finishing their summer as a junior high student, but also taking on all of the prep needed to take on high school.
Those freshman had orientation on Wednesday morning, the earliest some might have had to get up this summer. During the event, students picked up their class schedules, toured the building in group tours led by upper classman, and saw presentations on groups and clubs offered at PHS, such as Key Club.
In one of the rooms at the high school, students Kenzie Weller, senior, Hannah Smith, senior, and Jordan Booker, junior, could be found instructing freshman on how to fill out an interview pamphlet for high school guidance counselor Lindsay Mulenkamp.
“This is so she can get to know them,” Weller said.
The high school will also have an open house today from 6-7:30 p.m., during which sophomores, juniors, and seniors can pick up their class schedules. The first day of school is on Monday, Aug. 24.
