Covington Church to host salad luncheons
COVINGTON — The Women’s Fellowship of the Covington Christian Church will have their third salad luncheon for 2015 on Aug. 21.
Come and enjoy the large assortment of homemade salads, desserts, finger sandwiches, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Don’t forget our specialty, “Hot Chicken Salad” as well as other desserts, salads and a drink for a small donations of $6.00. Carry outs are available upon request.
The church is located at 115 N. Pearl Street in Covington, is air conditioned and handicap accessible. Come and enjoy food, fellowship and fun! We look forward to seeing you!

Living Proof Live Simulcast
PIQUA — LifeWay Christian Resources is slated to simulcast well-known Bible teacher and best-selling author Beth Moore live from Kansas, on Sept. 12. Grace United Methodist Church at 9411 North County Road 25-A is serving as a host location for the Piqua area.
The event both challenges and encourages women to grow deeply in their faith. Join 250,000 women around the world for this live, global, Internet streaming event. The simulcast gives your church a front-row seat to one-of-a-kind Bible teaching and life-changing worship.
Moore has authored dozens of published Bible studies, books, and devotionals specifically for women for nearly two decades. Moore’s organization, Living Proof Ministries, is based out of Houston.
Dove award-winning musical artist Travis Cottrell, who also serves as worship pastor of Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, Tenn., is slated to lead worship for the event.
The Living Proof Live Simulcast kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. and ends at 5:15 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 covering one full day of a light breakfast, catered lunch from Susie’s Big Dipper, worship music and Bible teaching; sessions led by Beth Moore; and opportunities for fellowship with other women from the Piqua community. Women may purchase tickets at Grace United Methodist or True Vine Church in Piqua. Lunch choices need to be selected at the time of ticket purchase.

Springcreek Baptist Church 175th Anniversary service
PIQUA — Springcreek Baptist Church is celebrating the church’s 175th anniversary on Aug. 30, 2015 with special services during their 10:30 a.m. worship service. ABC Executive Minister Rev. Dr. Larry Swain will present the congregation with a certificate from the American Baptist Historical Society.

FBC 5k set for Sept. 12
TROY — First Baptist Church is holding its annual 5k race at 10 a.m. Sept. 12 at the church, 53 S. Norwich Road, Troy.
This year, the church partnering with the Lincoln Community Center to donate each participant’s entire registration fee to the LCC After School All Stars Program in Troy.

Chenoweth Trails retreat
GREENVILLE— A summer outing in the woods, vacation Bible school, campfire and s’mores, worship service in God’s great outdoors! The visions these words bring to mind will be part of the retreat at Chenoweth Trails the weekend of Aug. 29 and 30, planned by First Presbyterian Church.
“Getting Back on Track” is the theme of the weekend, designed to give participant a time to reflect, to have fellowship with others, a time free from the “merry-go-round” of everyday life. Hiking, fishing, swimming, corn hole, board games and cards, volleyball, kickball and Frisbee are a few of the possibilities for renewing the soul.
Vacation Bible School will be part of the weekend but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Yurts to provide sleeping along with hot showers brings a little civilization to this beautiful wooded area. Recreation vehicles may be used for overnight, but electricity and water hook up are not available. A primitive tent camping area is also available.
