PIQUA — The Piqua High School class of 1965 celebrated its 50th class reunion on June 19-21. There were a total of 146 attendees including 101 classmates.
Friday evening was spent reconnecting with classmates at the 311 Draft House.
Saturday morning started with a golf scramble at Echo Hills Golf Course organized by Ron Pearson. The winners of the scramble were Pam (Goater) McCarthy, George Deavours, Mike Emerick, and Ralph Bolton.
Saturday evening at Edison Community College started with a cocktail and social hour followed with a buffet dinner. The highlights of the evening were watching videos of the “All Night Party” at the Piqua Country Club on graduation night and the “Basketball Tournament Fever of 1965.” A large display of memorabilia pertaining to classmate’s high school years was provided by Rick Barringer. A 50th class photo was taken along with individual photos of the elementary schools and Bennett and Wilder alumni, which was enjoyed by all. A booklet of all classmates with current updated information was made by Nancy Sever and Linda Foster. All 294 classmates were accounted for. Souvenirs were provided to all that attended.
Sunday morning a brunch was held at the Fort Piqua Plaza along with a tour of the hotel narrated by Jim Oda.
Classmates from 13 different states attended…California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and from cities all over Ohio.
A memory board was displayed with photos and names in honor of deceased classmates. A donation of $500 was made to the Piqua Education Foundation in their memory.
