Students compete in basketball event

PIQUA — The Piqua Optimist Club held its annual Tri Star Basketball competition on Saturday, March 25.

Physical education teachers in the local schools held preliminary competitions within their schools and sent representatives from each school to the competition. Students were asked to demonstrate skills in passing, shooting and dribbling for the contest.

Trophies were given for boys and girls placing first, second and third in three age categories:

Boys Age 8-9: 1st Place – Keidin Pratt, 2nd Place – Evan O’Leary, 3rd Place – Joahua Knapke

Girls Age: 8-9: 1st Place – Sofie Elliott, 2nd Place – Aubrey Branam, 3rd Place – Grace Voskuhl

Boys Age: 10-11: 1st Place – Donovan O’Leary, 2nd Place – Ty Pettus, 3rd Place – James Larger

Girls Age: 10-11: 1st Place – Brook Larck, 2nd Place – Logan Spradlin, 3rd Place – Bailey Cooper

Boys Age 12-13: 1st Place – Colten Beougher, 2nd Place – Evan Heidenreich, 3rd Place – Anson Cox

Girls Age 12-13: 1st Place – Colleen O’Leary
