Drug use may have led to crash

TROY – Drug use may have been a contributing factor in a single-vehicle crash on State Route 41 near Washington Road just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Emergency responders were called on a report of a car into a pole with two people slumped over in the front seat. A sheriff’s deputy who arrived first told other responding personnel that a possible drug overdose may have been involved.

A deputy was forced to break a side window to make entry into the vehicle. The lone occupant was awake when medics arrived and was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center. His condition is unknown.

A search was made for the possible second victim but no one was located.

The crash in under investigation by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.
