PIQUA – Piqua resident Jonathan R. Rivers, 28, was arrested Monday on three counts of fourth-degree felony trafficking cocaine charges. One of the charges stemmed from a warrant from the Piqua Police Department filed on July 10.
Rivers was recognized during a traffic stop on Monday when he was picked up. During the traffic stop, Rivers was reportedly found to have crack cocaine, oxycodone, and cash with him, according to Deputy Chief Tom Steiner of the Piqua Police Department.
A preliminary hearing is set for Rivers on Aug. 12.
In an unrelated incident, Piqua resident Lewis B. Stewart III, 34, was charged with fifth-degree felony trafficking cocaine and fifth-degree felony drug possession on July 31. Piqua police responded to a residence on the 400 block of Ash Street regarding a warrant service. Lewis was taken into custody for a warrant. He was found to have a large amount of cash and a bag of marijuana in his pocket, according to Piqua police reports.
Rivers and Stewart have both since been released from the Miami County Jail.
