PIQUA — Residents will transform empty shoeboxes into gifts filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items for the Samaritan Purse project “Operation Christmas Child” from Nov. 14-21.
Suggested items include: Soccer ball with pump, stuffed animal, toys (puppets, trucks, jump ropes, calls, cars, etc.), doll (baby, Barbie, etc.), clothing, shoes, school supplies. For other ideas, visit the website at www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child.
You may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself, your family, or group. If you include your name and an address, the child may be able to write back.
The dropoff location will be Piqua Baptist Church, 1402 W. High St., where donations will be accepted at the following times: 9:30 a.m. Nov. 14, 15, 17, 18, and 21; 6-8 p.m. Nov. 16; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 19; and 4-6 p.m. Nov. 20.
The gifts will be delivered around the world by Samaritan’s Purse to children who are living in the midst of poverty, war, disease or natural disaster.
