PIQUA — A single car crash on Piqua-Lockington Road left one person with injuries requiring transportation aboard CareFlight on Tuesday.
Emergency units were dispatched to Piqua-Lockington Road just south of Brokaw Road around 5:25 p.m. on the report of an overturned vehicle with one person trapped.
Piqua and Fletcher fire and rescue arrived on the scene to find a power pole clipped off and an overturned vehicle.
Sgt. Chris Bobb of the Miami County Sheriff’s Office said that the victim, Yolanda K. Bidwell, 28, was not trapped but EMS personnel were careful in removing her due to a partial ejection from the vehicle.
Bobb said that Bidwell was southbound on Piqua-Lockington Road when she lost control of her vehicle, went off the right side of the highway, over-corrected, then off the left side of the highway, striking a utility pole before overturning in a soybean field.
A passenger in the vehicle refused transport but Bidwell was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.
Deputies believe that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash which is still under investigation.
There is no word on Bidwell’s condition.
