PIQUA — A resident on Brook Street in Piqua reported finding his great-nephew smoking marijuana in his home on Monday, July 20, at 2:56 p.m. The resident claimed that the male juvenile was smoking with some of his friends.
Two other subjects were reportedly found in the room with the resident’s great-nephew. A white PVC pipe with burnt residue was seen in plain sight, according to Piqua police reports. Another male juvenile, a friend of the resident’s great-nephew, reportedly advised that it belonged to him.
A “prescription bottle that contained a small amount of dried green vegetation” and a “white glass marijuana bowl” were also reportedly found in the room with the teens, according to Piqua police reports. Those items, in addition to the PVC pipe, were seized into evidence. The “dried green vegetation” was field tested and reportedly positive for marijuana.
The resident’s nephew claimed that the marijuana belonged to his mother. Carina N. Martin, 40, was questioned and allegedly advised Piqua police that it belonged to her. Martin then reportedly made the statement, “I would rather have him smoking marijuana at home then (sic) out drinking,” according to Piqua police reports. Martin later denied the marijuana.
Martin was cited for drug possession in connection with this incident. One male juvenile offender was cited for drug possession and drug paraphernalia. The other male juvenile offender was cited for drug paraphernalia. The charges were all minor misdemeanors.
A court date is set for Martin on Aug. 8 at 9 a.m.
