Aug. 19

THEFT: A deputy was dispatched to the 6300 block of Studebaker Road, Tipp City, on the report of a burglary.The homeowner advised sometime over the past several weeks, items had been taken from her residence while she was on vacation, including a 20 gauge shotgun. Case is pending.

DRUG POSSESSION: A deputy conducted a traffic stop on the listed vehicle for a moving violation near Upper Valley Medical Center on County Road 25-A. The deputy identified the driver as, Donald Campbell and passenger as, Stacy Mariano. After speaking to both subjects, it was determined Mr. Campbell had a suspended drivers license and Mrs. Mariano is the registered owner of the vehicle. Both gave consent to search the vehicle. A used needle was located in the glove box in front of the passengers seat where Mrs. Mariano was sitting. Both subjects admitted to using heroin within the last 48 hours. Mr. Campbell and Mrs. Mariano was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Aug. 20

TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE: A deputy responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint at 8686 Casstown Fletcher Road. The vehicle was located in the driveway of this residence and appeared to have been involved in a crash. The vehicle owner, Richard Beard II, 50, of Fletcher, was contacted and was extremely agitated with law enforcement upon our arrival. Registered owner was advised to stay at his residence while the deputy conducted the investigation. The registered owner refused to do so and responded to the address in the 8600 block of Casstown Fletcher Road and proceeded to get into a verbal altercation with the resident and her father at the residence.

Beard allegedly refused to calm down and cooperate with the investigation and was arrested and charged with failure to control, hit skip, disorderly conduct and tampering with evidence. Beard was removed from the scene and incarcerated in the Miami County Jail.

THEFT:A deputy responded to the 7000 block of State Route 41, Troy, on the report of a burglary. Entry was made into a garage and the listed property was stolen.

Aug. 21

THEFT: A resident in the 10000 block of Covington Gettysburg Road, Covington, reported that his property was broken into by an unknown person. The owner said the involved cabin had forced entry made into it. The scene was photographed and several items were fingerprinted. Entry was made to the cabin by the use of large cutters that were used to cut two padlocks on the door of the cabin. Several items were taken by the suspect(s) while they were in the cabin and on the property. This matter is pending further investigation.

BURGLARY: A deputy reported to the 5000 block of South County Road 25A, Tipp City, in reference to a breaking and entering complaint. A barn on the property had been entered, and areas of it had been ransacked. It did not appear anything had been taken. Evidence was collected from the scene.
