PIQUA – The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced the results of an OVI checkpoint conducted in conjunction with the Tipp City Police Department Friday night on State Route 571 between County Road 25-A and Interstate 75.
A total of 507 vehicles were checked driving through the checkpoint between 9 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday. Six vehicles were diverted and checked further based on alcohol and/or drugs being detected during the initial contact. One OVI arrest was made and another driver was cited for minor misdemeanor possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. The other four were checked and released after they were found to not be impaired.
Troopers and officers from the Tipp City Police Department also conducted saturation patrol in the area. As a result, 39 traffic contacts were made, three arrests were for driving impaired, two for safety belt usage, and two for traffic violations, and another for drug possession. Twenty-nine traffic warnings were issued for traffic infractions.
