2016 Berry Bowl

2016 Berry Bowl

TROY — Miami County fair-goers will want to check out the Troy Daily News/Piqua Daily Call booth in the Merchant Building this year. Fair-goers who renew their subscription — or purchase a new subscription — will receive a free folding camp chair as a thank you for their continued patronage.

The special subscription rate available only during the Miami County Fair will be $112 for the year for the Troy Daily News or $105 for the year for the Piqua Daily Call. Subscriptions must be paid for at the time of purchase with cash, check or credit card.

With the untimely death of Becky Lowe, owner of Liberty Pottery in Roscoe Village, Coschocton, a limited quantity of the annual pottery pieces — a limited edition berry bowl for 2016 — also will be available to subscribers who renew their subscriptions at the full annual rate — $161.56 for the Troy Daily News and $139.71 for the Piqua Daily Call. The berry bowls will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The newspapers’ fair booth will be manned each day of the fair from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The TDN/PDC photographers will take photos of all junior fair exhibitors who are the top winners in their categories. Exhibitors may bring their trophies or ribbons to be photographed — with their projects — to the designated area at the fair. Junior Fair participants will receive photo cards from judges. The cards should be filled out and brought with the project/trophy/ribbon to the newspapers’ photo area, located at the Dairy Barn. It is the responsibility of the eligible winner to bring his or her project to the newspapers’ photo area. If the project cannot be brought to the area, please contact the photographer to arrange a time for a photograph.

A photographer will be at the photo area Monday through Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. On Saturday, a photographer will be at the dog arena area from 1-3 p.m. to take photos of dog competition winners. Monday through Wednesday, photographers also will be available at the horse arena area from 2-4 p.m.

Anyone missing an opportunity for a photograph can send their own photo and information to

Also, don’t forget to grab a copy of the Troy Daily News or Piqua Daily Call for complete fair coverage. A special fair results section will be published inside each daily paper beginning Monday, Aug. 15, through Friday, Aug. 19.

Results also will be posted to the websites at and, and to both newspapers’ Facebook pages.
