Troy Police reports

Information provided by Troy Police Department:

June 9

WRONG WAY: An officer was traveling in the east bound lane of West Main Street near N. Short Street, in a marked patrol vehicle. The officer observed a gray Chevy Malibu traveling south on N. Short Street, which is clearly marked for south bound traffic only. The vehicle turned east onto W. Main Street. and the officer initiated a traffic stop.

The driver was identified as Jason Sims. Sims advised me that he did not have a driver’s license; only a temporary permit. The officer issued Sims a citation for driving the wrong way on a one-way street and no operator’s license, and he signed the citation and accepted his copy. Sims could not make contact with a licensed driver, so he secured his vehicle and the officer transported him to his place of employment.

June 10

CARRIAGE CROSSING PARK INCIDENT: An officer found the suspect, Justin Emerick, in the Carriage Crossing park after curfew. Contact was made and the suspect was very nervous and is a known drug user. A search of the area where the suspect had walked, a syringe was found. The suspect was charged with Possession of Drug Abuse Instrument and was released.

DOLLAR GENERAL THEFT: Officers responded to the area of the Dollar General store and the area of Kings Chapel in reference to a shoplifting complaint. The suspect had fled the scene into the Kings Chapel area. The store manager advised that a lone white male entered the store and within about two minutes had selected eight packs of Hanes underwear and eight packs of Hanes T-shirts, concealed them in his jacket, and left the store without paying or attempting to pay for the items.The suspect the fled to the area of Kings Royal Dr. and St. Andrews Dr. where they lost sight of the suspect.

The suspect is a white male, 20 to 30 years of age, thin build, dark short hair, and a light mustache and possible beard or goatee. The suspect was wearing a black jacket, black pants, black shoes with white on them, and a darker blue shirt.

June 12

FOUND SYRINGES: An officer responded to the 1000 block of Walker Street in reference to an assist citizen call.

The reporting party advised that she found a syringe behind her house near the alley. Extra patrol was given for the surrounding area in reference to this incident.

CRACK PIPES FOUND: An officer was flagged down in the parking lot of the Royal Inn at 1210 Brukner Dr. by an employee who advised that he found two glass crack pipes under a mattress when he was cleaning out room 261. It is unknown how long the pipes have been in this room. The employee handed the officer the pipes that he had already placed in a plastic bag. They were then placed in a property locker as found property to be destroyed.
