PIQUA — The Piqua-Lewis Boyer Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently installed their 2016 officers. They are: Regent, Becky Miller; Vice Regent, Annette Stewart; Second Vice Regent, Debbie Miller; Chaplain Susan Miracle; Recording Secretary, Carol DeHart; Corresponding Secretary Patty Kaplan; Treasurer, Bonnie Lair; Assistant Treasurer, Marianne Ober; Registrar Teri Okrutny; (not present) Historian, Tamy Laughman; and Librarian Elizabeth Okrutny (not present).
Members were reminded of the Southwest District CDRC workshop to be held Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, 840 Timber Glen Drive, Wilmington. This workshop is for chapter officers and all chapter members. The registration form was in the June OSDAR Newsletter.
Fall Fun Fair is July 30 at the NW Marriott in Columbus. The registration form, which is due by July 16, can be found on the Ohio DAR web site under June newsletter. Registration day of the event is from 7-10 a.m. Also, the $10 Bazaar will be held again. Each chapter is asked to bring one hand-crafted item to be sold for $10.
Members Annette Stewart and Elizabeth Okrutny were recognized as 10-year members with certificates. Annette has been past librarian and the outgoing chapter historian publicity chair for six years.
National Society Daughters of the American Revolution 125th Continental Congress will be held June 15-19 in Washington, D.C. Each year more than 3,000 Daughters travel to the nation’s capital to attend the business meetings and social events of the Society, meet new friends, and renew old acquaintances.
