Area students graduate
• PIQUA — Meredith Hale, daughter of Roger and Jeanne Hale of Piqua and a 2005 graduate of Lehman Catholic High School, recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with Master’s degrees in Information Science and Art History.
Her Master’s paper in information science titled “Searching for Art: A Log Analysis of the Ackland Art Museum’s Collection Search System” was awarded the Dean’s Achievement Award, recognizing it as one of the top two papers from her graduating class. It was also chosen for the Gerd Muehsam Award by the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS).
Following graduation, Hale will be moving to New Haven, Conn., to begin work at Yale as the Kress Fellow in Art Librarianship. She began her library science career as a summer children’s librarian at the Piqua Public Library while in high school.
• ROOTSTOWN — Northeast Ohio Medical University honored 210 of Ohio’s newest physicians, pharmacists and medical professionals during the University’s Commencement, May 21, at The University of Akron’s E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Center.
Troy’s Anthony Trung Dao was among the graduates who received a Doctor of Medicine.
Troy’s Michael Tri-Minh Nguyen was among the graduates who received a Doctor of Medicine.
• PIQUA — Jerry Curtis of Piqua is a winner of the Henry J. Hawk Sr. Scholarship Program sponsored by American Trim LLC. He is the son of George Curtis.
Jerry’s high school and community activities include football, basketball, stock club, homecoming court and Boy Scouts. He is majoring in supply chain management at Bowling Green State University.
• PIQUA — Trevor Snapp, a Piqua High School graduate, is one of five area students to receive Leadership Scholarships from the Sidney law firm of Faulkner, Garmhausen, Keister & Shenk.
Snapp, along with recipients from Sidney High School, Lehman Catholic High School, Minster High School, and Ft. Loramie High School, received a cash award for $1,000. He will be attending Sinclair Community College.
