Wittenberg recognizes achievement

SPRINGFIELD — Capping off a day-long Celebration of the Liberal Arts at Wittenberg University, the campus community came together to celebrate the achievements of students and faculty members alike at the annual Honors Convocation in Weaver Chapel. The faculty commemorated the occasion in full academic regalia as the university recognized high achievement of students and faculty members in academic and co-curricular activities.

The following local students were recognized:

Area students graduate

SPRINGFIELD — Blankets were part of the attire worn by those attending Wittenberg University’s 166th Commencement exercises. But the wind and the occasional spitting rain did little to detract from the celebration of Wittenberg’s Class of 2016 on Saturday, May 14, in front of a cold, but enthusiastic, standing-room-only crowd in picturesque Commencement Hollow.

Interim University President Dick Helton led the Commencement celebration, congratulating the 357 members of the Class of 2016 in his remarks.

BGSU spring dean’s list announced

BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University has announced the undergraduate students who have been named to the spring semester dean’s list for achieving grade point averages of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.

To be chosen for the dean’s list, undergraduate students must carry no fewer than 12 letter-graded credit hours per semester.

ONU Beta Alpha Psi team finishes second

ADA — Ohio Northern University’s Beta Alpha Psi “Best Practices” team finished second in a competition held as part of the Beta Alpha Psi 2016 Midwest Regional Meeting in Covington, Ky., from April 1-2.

The team, which presented “Good to Great,” was made up of Jacob Crowley, a Master of Science in Accounting candidate from Wadsworth, Katie Cochrane, a senior accounting major from Bowling Green, Nick Hensley, a senior accounting major from Daytona Beach, Fla.; Courtney Horstman, a Master of Science in Accounting candidate from Delphos, Ohio; Thomas McArdle, a senior management major from Xenia, and Megan Walker, a Master of Science in Accounting candidate from Troy.

Brescia University announces graduates

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Brescia University awarded degrees at the RiverPark Center on May 14, 2016. Tam’ara Marie O’Toole, of Piqua, was awarded a Bachelor of Social Work.
