COLUMBUS — The Ohio Family Career and Community Leaders of America Leadership Conference was April 27-28, 2016 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus. Upper Valley Career Center was represented by students and staff advisors from Early Childhood Education and Career and Culinary Arts on campus programs as well as FCCLA satellite students and instructors.
Early Childhood Education and Care Level l students Sierra Westcott and Erin Bremke received silver medals for their team entry in Focus on Children. Waunetta Thompson, also an ECEC Level l student, earned a gold medal in Curriculum Unit Development. ECEC Level ll student Cailin Litten, received a gold medal in Job Interview. Miranda Storms earned a silver medal in Curriculum Unit Development.
FCCLA students in the Culinary Arts program at Upper Valley Career Center also competed at the state event. Jordan Nolan and Mahalia Echevarria each earned gold in Dining Room Attendant. Repeating her first place finish in the state competition, Echevarria received the top honors in this event. Hayley Eversman earned gold in Garde Manger. Jodan Bolin, Harley Link, Aric Tipps earned silver in Meeting Event Set-Up. Emily Adkins and Talia Poole earned gold in Meeting Event Set-Up. Morgan Heise earned gold in Pastry Arts – Cake.
The Career Center FCCLA members joined with others at the convention to pack 70,000 meals for hungry families.
