PIQUA — Tickets are currently on sale for the second annual “A Night in White” fundraiser for the Piqua High School show choir, bringing attendees together for a picnic in white and an evening of dancing at the Orrmont Estate.

Tom Westfall, director of the PHS show choir “The Company,” modeled “A Night in White” after picnic parties held in a variety of metropolitan areas for which guests get dressed up in their best dress whites for an evening of dining and dancing.

“It is a pop-up picnic,” Wesftall said.

Spanning six continents, diner en blanc — or “dinner in white” — events have been held all over the world, from Paris to Pittsburgh, and a plethora of points between. Westfall was inspired to bring one to Piqua after attending one at the Cincinnati Art Museum in recent years.

“There were thousands of people dressed in white,” Westfall said.

Westfall said his goal was to bring “something fun, a little different” to Piqua, while also benefiting future seasons of “The Company.”

This is the second year for “A Night in White,” and it will be held at the Orrmont Estates again on Sunday, Sept. 1.

“It is just a beautiful venue to have something like this,” said Westfall who said that approximately 100 people attended last year’s event, and they hope to double that number this year.

“It was a beautiful, beautiful event,” Piqua Mayor Kazy Hinds said. “It was a fun night to get together with friends.”

The event will begin with an hors d’oeuvre hour from 7-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, at the Orrmont Estate, 1612 S. Main St., Piqua. Dinner — a picnic-style affair — will follow hors d’ouevres from 8-9 p.m. After dinner, guests can dance the night away to live music played by local band 24seven from 9-11 p.m.

Tickets are $30 per person, which does not include a meal, or $40 per person to include a meal. Tickets are available at Readmore’s Hallmark in downtown Piqua or by calling the Piqua High School at (937) 773-6314.

“If you’re looking for something fun and different to do, this is an amazing event,” Westfall said. “Come on out, and have a great time.”
