Sniders mark diamond date

PIQUA — Arlene and James E. Snider of Piqua will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary, Nov. 13, at an open house reception for friends and family in the Snyder Road Church of God, from 2-5 p.m.

They request that gifts be omitted.

Jim and the former Arlene Anna Thorne were married Nov. 17, 1956, at 7:30 p.m., in the Sidney Church of Christ (Disciples) by the Rev. Paul Monroe. Witnesses were best man Orville Huffman, maid of honor Lois Hiser, Elaine Sharp, Susan Leckey, Nelson Snider, Charles “Bud” Snider and Robert Thorne. Larry Thorne lit the candles.

Jim is the son of the late Louise and Charles Snider. He has two living sisters, Ruth Leist of Houston, and Marybelle Shafer of Findlay, and a living brother, Charles “Bud” Snider of Tipp City. Two other sisters, Betty Huffman and Pat Woodrome, and a brother, Nelson Snider, are deceased.

Arlene is the daughter of the late Delma and Fred Thorne. She has two living brothers and a sister-in-law, Larry Thorne of Sidney, Gary Thorne of Toledo, and Marline Thorne of The Villages, Fla. Another brother, Bob Thorne, is deceased.

The Sniders are the parents of five sons and four daughters-in-law, Steve and Kay Snider, and Doug and Kelly Snider, all of Piqua, Don and Cris Snider of Fletcher, and Tim Snider and Tom and Ann Snider, all of Covington. They have 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The couple are members of the Snyder Road Church of God in Piqua. Arlene recently retired as the fiscal officer of Springcreek Township. She continues to serve as church treasurer and is a member of the Thursday Chatter Club.

Jim is retired from Sidney Tool and Die. He enjoys fishing, hunting and woodworking projects.

They both enjoy family occasions and attending their great-grandchildren’s activities.
