Guittars celebrate 50th anniversary

PLEASANT HILL — Richard and Carolyn (Peters) Guittar of Pleasant Hill are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple met while in college at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind.

They were married on June 26, 1966, in Covington, at Covington Grace Brethren, with the Rev. Claire Brickell presiding.

Richard is a retired school teacher from Troy City Schools. After 32 years of teaching, he then was an assistant principal at Salem Christian Academy in Clayton for seven years. Carolyn taught for seven years at Concord Elementary before she was a stay-home mom. After her children were school age, she taught at Salem Christian Academy, and later became the principal of that school for 20 years.

The couple has three children. Aaron (Kate) Guittar of Pleasant Hill, Andrew (Deborah) Guittar of Burien, Wash., and Amy (John) Faulkner of Great Falls, Mont. They have four grandchildren.

They are members of Salem Church of God in Clayton.

The Guittars celebrated their golden anniversary with their children and grandchildren on the South Carolina Coast.
