May 20

ID THEFT: A Pleasant Hill resident filed an identity theft complaint on station.

POOL DAMAGE: It was reported that the swimming pool at the Piqua Country Club was found with damage that occurred sometime while it was winterized for the season. The exact date was not able to be determined. It was strongly believed that the damage was from someone purposely vandalizing it. The liner of the pool had several large holes and cuts in it that were observed at the time of this report. There was nothing found in the area that may have caused the damage. The damage was estimated to cost several thousands of dollars for a repair.

FAKE MONEY: A deputy was dispatched to the Kountry Kruise Drive Thru in Brown Twp. on a theft complaint. The deputy made contact with the complainant, who stated that he had sold an RV and was paid with counterfeit money. After further investigation, the RV was located and towed to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office impound lot. The counterfeit money was seized and placed into evidence. This case is pending.

SAWS GONE: A deputy responded to 8900 block of State Route 202 in reference to two stolen chainsaws.

JAIL INCIDENT: A deputy was dispatched to the Miami County Incarceration Facility, in reference, to a fight between Inmate Jesse Alexander and Inmate William Sparks. The two inmates were charged with disorderly conduct.

May 21

DRUG POSSESSION: A deputy stopped the listed vehicle for a moving violation on Troy-Sidney Road, Troy. The deputy made contact with the driver who was identified as the defendant Tavares Upkins. The deputy also identified the passenger as Mitchell Hudson. After further investigation, Mr. Upkins was taken into custody for OVI and possession of drugs. Mr. Hudson was also taken into custody for possession of drugs.

TRUCK STUCK: A caller reported a vehicle on the bike path that appeared to have crashed and was left abandoned. The deputy located the vehicle which appeared to be stuck in the mud on a hill approximately 100 feet on the bike path off of Dye Mill road. The deputy attempted to contact the registered owner without success. Randys Towing arrived to remove the vehicle.

May 22

OVI: Officers were dispatched to a hit-skip accident in the 5000 block of Peters Road, Tipp City and located the accident scene and the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect was identified as the defendant Joseph Flora. After further investigation Mr. Flora was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody for OVI.

SHOTS FIRED: A deputy was dispatched to the area of 9210 N Hetzler Road on a shots fired complaint. Dispatch advised that individuals were shooting across the roadway.

May 23

TRASH: It was reported that a subject has not returned to pay for the truck load of refuge that he dumped at the Miami County Solid Waste District. When the subject was there on May 18 he advised he forgot his wallet and would return later that day to pay $20.45. As of the above date he has not returned to do so.

POSSESSION: A deputy stopped the listed vehicle for a traffic violation on State Route 36 and N. Rangeline Road, Covington. As the officer was speaking with the driver, Ashley Allen, he could smell the distinct odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. The deputy asked Ashley where the weed was, she hesitated and looked away and stated there wasn’t any. The deputy had her exit the vehicle to conduct a probable cause search. The deputy located a baggie containing a green leafy substance in plain view inside her open purse. Ashley was cited for speed and possession of marijuana.

ID THEFT: A Union Twp. resident came into the Miami County Sheriff’s Office to report a theft complaint.
