• FREE FILM: The 1968 thriller “Bullitt,” starring Steve McQueen, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center. Movie, soda and popcorn are free.

• VETERANS SERVICE: The Pleasant Hill community would like to honor veterans at 9:45 a.m. at Newton Local High School in the junior high gym. Veterans, plan to meet in the board of education room at 9:15 a.m. and sign in before the assembly. Family members wishing to attend with the veterans are also welcome. • HAM & CHEESE: The Troy Fish & Game will offer ham and cheese subs beginning at 6 p.m.

• BAZAAR: For the first time in many years, the Women’s Ministries of the Tipp City Church of the Nazarene is holding a craft bazaar in order to raise money to refurbish the church kitchen. The bazaar will be held in the Family Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• CEREMONY: A Veterans Day ceremony and program has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Veterans Memorial at Riverside Cemetery. The ceremony and program are sponsored by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard, Troy. The inclement weather location is the VFW Post, 2220 LeFevre Road, Troy.

• VETERANS WORKSHOP: Caldwell House will host a free educational workshop about the VA Aid and Attendance benefit at 1 p.m. This event is open to the public and will take place at 2900 Corporate Drive, Troy. Call (937) 573-4158 to register.

• BOAT SHOW: A Big Beers & Small Boats Swap Meet will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at SmithFly, 201 E Water St., Troy. The event will include local brewers, food trucks and boat-related events. The event is a fundraiser for Troy Community Works as a fund raiser fr river accesss.

• RAILROAD: The East Stillwater Valley Railroad will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. both days at 137 S. Wenrick St., Covington. The railroad occupies roughly two thirds of a 27-foot-by-69-foot basement.

• PORK CHOPS: The Troy Fish & Game will offer stuffed pork chops beginning at 6 p.m.

• FISH FRY: The Pleasant Hill VFW Post 6557, 7578 W. Fenner Road, Ludlow Falls, will offer an all-you-can-eat-fish fry and smelt dinner with French fries, baked beans and applesauce for $9 from 5-7 p.m.

• PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The A.B. Graham Center and the Fletcher Lions will sponsor a pancake, sausage and fried mush breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon at the A.B. Graham Center, 8025 W. U.S. Route 36, Conover. The meal will include all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage and fried mush for $7 for adults and $4 for those 12 and younger. An indoor garage sale will also be offered from noon to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Spaces are available to rent by calling (937) 368-3700.

• FREE CONCERT: Mike Block will perform his unique style of solo cello at 7:30 p.m. at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center. He moves flawlessly from a classical composition to a folksy “Soppin’ the Gravy” piece of Americana.

• EUCHRE: The Tipp City Seniors will dine out at Lincoln Square at 4:30 p.m, followed by a Euchre party at 6:30 p.m.

• BAZAAR: The Troy Church of the Nazarene, 1200 Barnhart Road, will offer its 24th holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. More than 50 crafters from across the area will fill the church with home and holiday gift ideas, including jewelry, baked goods and more. • BAZAAR: St. Teresa Catholic Church, 6925 W. U.S. Route 36, Covington, will be holding their annual church bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be a quilt raffle with other prizes. Outside crafters and vendors will be present with many hand-crafted items. There will also be homemade baked goods available.

• CEREMONY: The American Legion Post 586, 377 N. 3rd St., Tipp City will present their annual Veteran’s Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Bean soup and cornbread will follow. Saturday evening enjoy karaoke at 7 p.m.

Sunday

• OPEN HOUSE: David L. Brown Youth Center will hold an Open House for the public on November 12, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at 291 S. Children’s Home Road in Troy. Miami County Juvenile Court recently announced that David L. Brown Youth Center is closing due to the declining need for residential treatment. Rich in history and memories, the open house is an opportunity for former residents and staff as well as the public to tour the building and view historic memorabilia. • WILD ART: Join Brukner Nature Center staff and volunteers from 1-4 p.m. for a painting fundraiser. Lisa Bauer of the Mayflower Arts Center will guide you as you paint a portrait of a red fox on a 16-inch-by-20-inch canvas. A BNC naturalist will provide an engaging introduction to the natural history of these magnificent mammals. This opportunity is $35 per person, (ages 13-adult), and includes refreshments and all materials. All proceeds benefit the Brukner Nature Center Wildlife Ambassador program.

• EUCHRE TOURNAMENT: The Pleasant Hill VFW Post 6557, 7578 W. Fenner Road, Ludlow Falls, will have a Euchre tournament beginning at 1 p.m. for $3. Sign up at noon. Snacks available.

• BREAKFAST: Breakfast is open to the public at the Tipp City American Legion Post 586. Come to enjoy a full breakfast made-to-order for $7. Children 10 and under eat for $3. Breakfast is served from 8-11 a.m.

Monday

• PUBLIC PRESENTATION: A public presentation of the Downtown Riverfront Strategic Initiative Final Study will be offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Bravo Room at Hobart Arena, Troy. Seating is limited. Joe Nickol, senior designer for MKSK Studios will be the presenter, who will offer community members the findings from an 11-month study by urban planners for the strategic development of downtown Troy and the riverfront.

• QUILT DISPLAY: The Pleasant Hill History Center, 8 W. Monument St., Pleasant Hill, will feature quilts during the month of November. The center is open every Monday from 3-7 p.m. A variety of new and vintage quilts are on display. For more information, visit PleasantHillHG@yahoo.com.

• CRAFTY LISTENERS: Crafty Listeners is an adult audio book club. Everyone works on individual craft projects and listens to a book. Feel free to bring lunch or snacks. The club meets every Monday at 1 p.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library.

• MOVIE NIGHT: Family movie night at the Troy-Miami County Public Library will be at 6 p.m., and will include some freshly popped popcorn. The “LEGO Batman Movie,” is rated PG and runs for 104 minutes. Registration is required by calling 339-0502, Ext. 121, or visiting www.tmcpl.org.

• DEMOCRATIC WOMEN: The Miami County Women will meet at 7 p.m. in the study of the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center, Troy. “A Blue Sweep” will be the discussion theme for the evening.

• SALAD BAR: Come to enjoy a salad bar with plenty of toppings at the Tipp City American Legion Post 586. Salad bar or baked potato bar for $3.50, enjoy them both for $6. Serving begins at 6 p.m.

• QUARTER AUCTION: A quarter auction to benefit the Ha family will be at the Covington Eagles, 715 E. Broadway St., Covington. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the auction begins at 7 p.m. Paddles are $3 each and additional paddles are $1. There will be a bake sale, water and pop for sale, and the Eagles kitchen will be open. The family lost their home to a fire.

Tuesday

• MEMORY MATTERS CAFE: StoryPoint Troy, 1840 Towne Park Drive, will host “Giving Thanks” from 6-8 p.m. where participants can share stories and see a holiday cooking demonstration from the executive chef. Memory Matters Cafe allows individuals to meet with new friends and join others who are learning, loving and living with memory loss. RSVP to (937) 541-5182 by two days before event.

• BOOK CLUB: The inspirational book club will be discussing “Courageous,” by Randy Alcorn at the Milton-Union Public Library at 2 p.m. for the movie showing. Visit the library to pick up a copy of any of book club books, which are on display.

• CRAFT: Join staff at 6 p.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library to create Chevron Utensil Holders. Recycling old coffee burlap bags, participants will create utensil holders just in time for Thanksgiving. Sign-ups are required as supplies are provided by calling 698-5515.

• TINY TOTS: Tiny Tots will be offered from 11-11:30 a.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library. Newborns to age 3 can enjoy singing songs and reading stories with a new theme each week.

• CRAFTS: The Tipp City Seniors members and guests will offer crafts and quilting at 9 a.m. at 320 S. First St., Tipp City.

• SALE: The Upper Valley Medical Center Gift Shop will host a Book and Consumer Goods Sale fundraiser open to the community in the hospital cafeteria on the lower level. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Featured items will include specially priced books, toys and games, electronics, puzzles, and unique gift items for all ages. Proceeds from this event will benefit the UVMC Volunteer Auxiliary, which supports the hospital with a volunteer force, annual scholarships, and funding for special projects and equipment.

• CELEBRATION: The Piqua YMCA’s Senior Center will offer a Thanksgiving celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Exercise will held prior at 9:30 a.m.

• PRESCHOOL IN PARK: The Miami County Park District will hold its Preschool in the Park “Calling All Turkeys” program from 11 a.m. to noon at Lost Creek Reserve, 2385 E. State Route 41, east of Troy. Join park district naturalist Gecko Jody and learn all about turds. There will be story time and a short tot sized hike. There is a $3 class fee due at the time of registration. Class size limited to 12, class minimum is four. Must be registered to attend. • VISITING NURSE: Stop in for a free blood pressure and/or glucose screening, for those over the age of 18, between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the Oakes-Beitman Memorial Library in Pleasant Hill; no appointment necessary. Wednesday

• HOMESCHOOL NATURE CLUB: Sign-up your 5-12 year-old homeschooled student for a morning or afternoon of discovery (9:30-11:30 a.m. or 2-4 p.m. at Brukner Nature Center. Staff naturalists have developed hands-on educational and lesson plans using live wildlife and outdoor exploration. The fee for these innovative programs is $2.50 for BNC members and $5 for non-members. Payment is due at time of registration (cash or check). Deadline for registration and payment is the Monday prior to the program. Payment can be made each month or for all sessions at one time (non-refundable). The topic for November is “Move or Snooze.”

• STORY TIME: Children ages 4-5 and parents are invited to come and enjoy stories, crafts, and a puppet show at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library.

• MORNINGS IN MOTION: This interactive program from 10-11 a.m. will combine active games, early literacy, and fun for all ages. Meet at McKaig and Race Park, 822 McKaig Ave. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be modified and held in the multi-purpose Room at the Troy-Miami County Public Library, 419 W. Main St.

• BOOK CLUB: The Milton-Union Public Library’s adult book club will meet at noon to discuss “The Woman in Cabin 10,” by Ruth Ware. Visit the library to pick up a copy of any of the book club books, which are on display.

• TEDDY PARTY: Children and their favorite teddy bear are invited to a party from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library. There will be light refreshments, singing, games, a craft and a teddy bear story time.

• CARRY IN: The Tipp City Seniors Center, 320 S. First St., Tipp City, will have a carry-in luncheon at noon. Entertainment will be provided by the Miami Valley Veterans Museum. Blood pressure checks will be offered at 11 a.m.

• MAINTENANCE CLASS: A free maintenance will be offered at 6 p.m. at J&D Bicycles, 500 N. Elm St., Troy.

• TELESCOPE FOR BEGINNERS: The Stillwater Stargazers Astronomy Club will hold a training and informational program at the Troy-Miami County Public Library at 6:30 p.m. This an opportunity to learn how to utilize all of the functions available on the telescope that the library has available for loan as well as enjoy a night sky viewing experience. Nov. 17

• VETERANS TRIBUTE: StoryPoint Troy, 1840 Towne Park Drive, will dedicate a designated room to honor veterans from 1-3 p.m. Guest speaker is Troy Mayor Mike Beamish, plus there will be a performance by the VFW Color Guard and ribbon-cutting by the Troy Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. • CHILI: The Troy Fish & Game will offer chili with grilled cheese beginning at 6 p.m.

• BINGO: The Piqua YMCA’s Senior Center will offer bingo at 10 a.m. A Taste of Elegance will be offered by Brookdale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• SOUPER WALK: The Miami County Park District will hold its Souper Walk program from 7-9 p.m. at Charleston Falls Preserve, 2535 Ross Road, south of Tipp City. Enjoy a guided, nighttime hike through the woods followed by a warm crackling fire and hot cup of homemade soup. Hikers are encouraged to bring a can of soup for donation to a local food pantry. • CRAFT SHOW: Hoffman United Methodist Church, 201 S. Main St., West Milton, will hold its annual Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church activity center. There are still a few booth spaces available. To reserve a space or for more information, call Jean Sanders at 937-698-5541.

• GIFT AND ART SALES: The Hayner House Gift Gallery in Troy will be filled with artists and vendors, each selling their own special and unique products from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Like us on Facebook for an up-to-date listing of artists and vendors participating this year. Admission is free.

• WILD ART FOR KIDS: Brukner Nature Center has introduced an art event fundraiser just for kids from 10 a.m. to noon. Join Lisa Bauer of the Mayflower Arts Center and BNC naturalist to create a 12-inch-by-12-inch masterpiece of an owl, inspired by the center’s wildlife ambassadors. This opportunity is $25 per child, kindergarten through eighth grade, and will include a visit from one of the wildlife ambassadors, all painting materials, and refreshments. Deadline for registration is Friday, Nov. 17 (cash or check only). All proceeds benefit the Brukner Nature Center Wildlife Ambassador program.

• HEALTHY COOKING: The Miami County Park District will hold the Healthy Cooking program from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lost Creek Reserve, 2385 E. State Route 41, east of Troy. Come out and join this beginners level cooking class which focuses on simple healthy recipes with ingredients grown locally or on the farm. Eating healthy on a budget will be discussed. • BAZAAR: The Christiansburg holiday bazaar will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Christiansburg Fire Department, 10 W. First St., Christiansburg. The bazaar will feature handcrafted gifts, jewelry, sweets, decorations, soaps, etc., which are made by local crafters.
