Health inspections


Restaurant inspections are performed in the county by Miami County Public Health, except in Piqua, which has its own health department. Miami County Public Health can be reached at (937) 573-3500, by email at info@miamicountyhealth.net or on the website at www.miamicountyhealth.net.

April 24

Ducky’s, 100 W. Market St., Troy — No violations upon inspection. Person-in-charge is taking the Level 11 test on May 5. PIC had all the necessary documents.

Early Beginnings Child Center, 1021 S. Dorset Drive, Troy — Observed an improperly cleaned area for trash in outdoor enclosure area by the facility. Person-in-charge had certification that they have taken the course and is just waiting on the certificate. PIC has all necessary documents.

April 25

Brittney’s Cakes, 50 S. Dorset Road, Troy — No violations upon inspection

La Piazza, 2 N. Market St., Troy — Critical violation: observed cutting boards to have a residual build-up. Observed prep cooler door handles along the grill line to have a build up residual. Observed missing light bulbs in ceiling light fixture in pizza prep area, near the pizza oven. The facility is much more organized than in previous inspections, keep up the good work. Observed good date marking of time/temperature controlled for safety foods.

Papa Johns, 779 W. Market St., Troy — Critical, repeat violation: person-in-charge did not ensure that employees are informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report information about their health. Cold holding prep coolers on either side of the food prep area did not have proper thermometers. Observed pizza peel being stored directly on top of pizza oven during inspection, corrected during inspection. Repeat observation: observed missing tile back near the water heaters. Observed small hole in the wall underneath the computers back in food prep area that needs to be sealed properly. Observed plumbing fixtures that were not being kept clean and maintained. Observed residual build-up in the mop sink drain pipe. critical violation. Observed the presence of live gnats above the mop sink drain. Critical violation: observed bottle of glue that was not labeled and hanging above food prep table, corrected during inspection.

Speedway, 818 N. Market St., Troy — Critical, repeat violation: person-in-charge did not ensure that employees are informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report information about their health. Observed plastic guard underneath the Pulse freezer near the drink machine falling off of the machine. Observed piles of bottles inside of cans in trash bins behind recycle/dumpster area. Repeat observation: observed no hand washing signage in the men’s bathroom. Observed a build up of syrup on the ground underneath the soda syrup bags in back storage area.
