Local bowlers compete in D-II sectional; Bradford girls fall to Riverside

HUBER HEIGHTS — None of the local bowlers were able to advance in the D-II sectional tournament Thursday at Poelking-Marian Lanes.

Russia finished 12th with 3,509, Versailles was 16th with 3,370 and Newon was 22nd with 2,962.

Kaleb Sowards led Russia with scores of 186, 149 and 201 for a 536 series, while Hunter Lloyd rolled games of 161, 184 and 181 for a 526 series.

Luke Dahlinhaus added games of 190, 145 and 149 for 484 series.

Other Russia scores were Henry Tumbusch 137-141, Greg Goubeaux 113-157 and Austin Huddleston 137,

Luke Shellhaas led Versailles with games of 214, 172 and 155 for a 541 series.

Sam Bensman had games of 173, 188 and 162 for a 523 series and Tyler Gehret rolled games of 144, 147 and 170 for a 461 series.

Other Versailles scores were Brandon Bradley 202-153 and Drew Cotner 156.

Jonathan Maxwell led Newton with games of 171, 176 and 157 for a 504 series.

Will Yoder had games of 165, 185 and 117 for a 467 series, while Ricky Landwehr rolled 117, 129 and 178 for a 424 series.

Cory Rowe added games of 117, 152 and 133 for a 402 series.

Other scores included Jacob Moore 120-144 and Crile Staudt 115.

BRADFORD — The Bradford girls basketball team will open Brookville D-IV sectional play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday against the Franklin Monroe-Catholic Central winner.

Bradford, 7-15, closed the regular season with a 31-26 loss to Riverside Thursday.

Skipp Miller led Bradford with 17 points, while Bianca Keener grabbed six rebounds.
