DAYTON —Three local players took top honors on the All-Southwest District football teams voted on by media members throughout the district.

On the Division V team, Versailles linebacker Kurtis Rutschilling was named Defensive Player of the Year.

Rustchilling, a senior linebacker, recorded 106 tackles this past season including nine tackles for loss. He also intercepted two passes, forced three fumbles and recovered two fumbles.

Two Lehman Catholic players were honored on the Division VII team.

Junior quarterback Elliott Gilardi was named Offensive Player of the Year, while senior defensive end Michael Bunker was named Defensive Player of the Year.

Gilardi completed 91 of 134 passes for 1,440 yards and 24 touchdowns with just three interceptions.

That computed to a quarterback rating of 170.3.

Gilardi also rushed for 950 yards and 17 touchdowns on 112 carries.

Bunker was a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks all season.
