The fall sports season kicks into high gear Saturday.

While boys golf, girls golf and girls tennis are two weeks into their schedule, a number of soccer and volleyball teams get started Saturday, as well as Edison Community College volleyball.

The Lady Chargers, whose rosters includes former Piqua players Jessica Apple, Taylor Bachman and Tasha Potts — along with Bradford’s Molly Dunlevy, Covington’s Kenzie Atkinson, Houston’s Kortney Phipps, Miami East’s Rebecca Hickman and Versailles’ Taylor Stover — will host Miami University Hamilton at 1 p.m. in coach Shelby Pitsenbarger’s debut.

The Piqua girls soccer team will play host Bellefontaine at noon, while the boys will play at Miami East, with the JV game starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Piqua volleyball team will get its season underway at 5:30 p.m. Monday against Milton-Union.

BRADFORD

The Bradford volleyball will not open the season until Tuesday at Russia, with the JV game at 5:30 p.m.

COVINGTON

The Covington volleyball team will open the season Saturday at Russia, with a 10 a.m. JV start.

HOUSTON

The Houston volleyball team will open the season Saturday at New Knoxville, with the JV game starting at 5:30 p.m.

LEHMAN CATHOLIC

While the Lehman girls soccer team will kick off its season tonight at Madeira, the boys soccer team will not get underway until Tuesday, when the Cavaliers travel to Greenville.

The Lehman volleyball team opens the season today at Vandalia-Butler, with the JV start moving from 12:30 p.m. to 11 a.m.

The Lehman girls tennis team will continue its season Saturday, playing in the Schroeder Invitational.

MIAMI EAST

The Miami East volleyball team will get started Saturday, playing at the Coldwater Classic. The tournament gets underway at 9 a.m.

Along with the boys soccer team hosting Piqua, the Eas girls soccer team will host Tecumseh, with the JV game starting at 11 a.m.

NEWTON

The Newton boys soccer team will open play Saturday, traveling to Greenville. The JV game will start at 10 a.m.

The girls soccer team will host Troy Christian at 5 p.m. Monday, while the volleyball team will open its season Thursday at Russia. The JV game will start at 5:30 p.m.

RUSSIA

The Lady Raiders get their volleyball season underway Saturday, when Covington visits for a 10 a.m. match.

VERSAILLES

The Versailles volleyball team will get its season underway Saturday, hosting Jackson Center at 10 a.m. in matchup of two perenniel powers.
