Piqua tennis splits two matches; O’Leary wins two races at Anna Invitational

HUBER HEIGHTS — The Piqua tennis team will host Fairborn Tuesday.

On Friday, the Piqua tennis team defeated Wayne 3-2.

Piqua swept the singles matches.

Sean Hatke won 6-3, 6-4; Brad McPherson wo 4-6-, 6-4, 6-2; and Isaiah Smith won 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Greg Reyes and Willis Young lost 6-1, 6-1; and Eli Bloom and Kate Dulder lost 6-0, 6-3.

On Tuesday, Piqua had lost to Xenia 4-1.

In singles, Hatke won 6-3, 4-6, 10-6; McPherson lost 6-1, 6-2; and Smith lost 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Reyes and Young lost 6-0, 6-0; and Bloom and Dulder lost 6-0, 6-0.


Russia boys

take fifth

ANNA — The Russia boys track and field team finished fifth at the Anna Invitational Saturday, while Houston was eighth and Lehman Catholic was 11th.

Finishing second for Russia were Cole Tebbe, 110 hurdles, 16.28; and Jack Moorman, 400, 54.62.

Taking third were Moorman , 200, 24.55; Tebbe, pole vault, 13-0; and Drew Poling, high jump, 5-8.

Finishing third for Houston were Ethan Knouff, 1,600, 4:48.58; and the 3,200 relay, 8:37.0.

In the girls competition, Russia was sixth, Lehman Catholic was eighth and Houston was ninth.

Finishing second for Russia were Grace York, 800, 2:24.0; Emily Bohman, pole vult, 10-6;and the 3,200 relay, 10:00.36.

Alanna O’Leary led Lehman, sweeping the 200, 26.86; and, 400, 61.59; and finishing second in the 100, 13.39.

Hollie Voisard led Houston with a third-place finish in the 800, 2:31.30.
