Edison teamssplit gameswith WSU-Lake

CELINA — The Edison Community College basketball teams split two game with WSU-Lake campus Saturday.

The men’s team dropped its first game of the season after five straight wins, losing at WSU-Lake 87-74 Saturday.

DeAnthony Griffin had 19 and Dae’Shawn Jackson added 14 for the Chargers. Jackson also had five steals.

Edison’s women’s basketball team ran its record on the year to 4-2 with a 67-56 victory at Wright State-Lake in action Saturday.

The Lady Chargers fell behind 17-12 after a quarter and still trailed by three at the half. But they dominated the final two periods to pull out the win.

Brooke Hickey led the way for the Lady Chargers with 21 points, including 5-for-9 from three-point range. Carly Buzzard added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, Jessie Crowell had 11 points and five steals, Holly Frey had 10 points, and Riley Culver also pulled down 10 rebounds.

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton Indians lost for the first time this season Monday night, falling to the visiting Russia Raiders 64-41.

Tatum McBride led the Indians (3-1) with 19 points.

Newton hosts Bradford Saturday.

Buccs youth

compete at meet

SIDNEY — The Covington youth wrestling team traveled to Sidney for their first meet of the season to compete with Allen East, Piqua, Dayton Christian and host team Sidney.

Taking first place for the Buccs were Jonathan Miller (3 pins), Andrew Basye (3 pins), Brycen Roth (3 pins) and Eli Donnan (1 pin).

Finishing second were Cooper Turner (2 pins), Colton Gambill (2 pins), Christopher Ha (2 pins), Jackson Shiverdecker (2 pins), Izaiah Sherman (1 pin), Dalton Bishop (1 pin), Isaiah Mumford, Landin Cassel and Sam Wolfe.

Taking third place at the event were Trey Schmelzer (1 pin), James Young, Wyatt Collins, Garrett Petry, Henry Skaggs, Jack Blumenstock, Kaden Thompson and Ashton Skaggs.

Finishing in fourth place were Landon Beeman, Aubrey Bishop, Mason Epperson, Autumn Estep, Kian French, AJ Garmin, Asher Long and Kaden Hughes.

Covington will compete in the Piqua meet at 1 p.m. Sunday.

On Friday, they will air the Jackson Center boys at Russia game at 7:40 p.m.

On Saturday, they will air the Botkins at Houston girls game at 2:10 p.m., followed by the Anna at New Knoxville boys game at 7:10 p.m.

UD to hold

baseball camp

The University of Dayton Holiday Baseball Camp will be Dec. 27-29.

The camp is for ages 7-12.

Camp director is University of Dayton baseball coach Tony Vittorio.

Cost of the camp is $115.
