To the Editor:
In a coordinated effort the American Legion Post 184 and Veterans of Foreign War Post 4874 are hosting a “Vietnam and Desert Storm Remembrance” event recognizing the 50th anniversary of Vietnam and 25th anniversary of Desert Storm, respectively. This event will be held on Feb. 6 at the VFW Post 4874 located at 8756 N. County Road 25-A, Piqua from the hours of 1-5 p.m. This is a free event open to the general public with an emphasis on veterans’ participation regardless of their membership status of either host organization.
During the remembrance we will have displayed memorabilia, speakers, finger foods and raffles. We will also offer information on various veteran services available in the Miami Valley.
We are seeking the communities help through monetary donations as well as goods and services. Items needed include monetary contributions to be used to purchase food items, non-alcoholic beverages, decorations and other incidentals associated with organizing and hosting the remembrance. We are also seeking donations of goods and services to be raffled throughout the event. Our goal is to host at least 100 Vietnam and Desert Storm era veterans and their families and your contributions will help us obtain that goal.
Additional goals of providing this anniversary remembrance are to show gratitude to those veterans who served during these two wars, as well as provide information on programs available to them through various veterans organizations, both local and national.
We look forward to partnering with you on this remembrance and ask that all remittance be sent to the American Legion Post 184 at 301 W. Water St., Piqua, OH 45356, Attention Steve Mullikin, Chaplain. You may also call (937 570-8519 if you have any questions or items to donate that need to be picked up.
