To The Editor:
Vote ‘Yes’ to the May 6 renewal levy. As a parent of a Piqua City Schools student, I see the importance of the renewal. If the improvement levy passes on May 6th, PHS and PJHS will continue to receive improvements as well as preventative maintenance such as roof repair/replacement, installation of security equipment, and the purchase of new buses just to name a few. If this levy fails, our schools would be greatly impacted. There would be classroom cuts, increased class sizes, fewer services, and repairs would be completed on an “emergency” basis only. This levy is not a new or additional tax, there is no increase in the amount that you will pay and every dollar raised in Piqua stays in Piqua. As long as this levy is renewed we will receive tax credits and discounts from the state, however; if the levy is turned down now but renewed at a later time, residents will see an increased tax bill. The Piqua community has been extremely supportive of the levy in the past, originally voting for it in 1994 and renewing it in 2004 and 2009. Please continue your support for our district and vote ‘Yes’ on May 6. Thank you.
