To the Editor:

I am honored to submit this letter on behalf of the Piqua Arts Council Board of Trustees to express our gratitude for the tremendous support of the 2014 Dancing with the Piqua Stars event. The only thing even close to matching the phenomenal performances of the dance stars was the incredible display of community support and generosity for the event!

The Dancing with the Piqua Stars event is the major fundraiser event of the year for the Piqua Arts Council and this year the combined efforts of the dance stars generated over $34,000 in community support for the Piqua Arts Council. These dollars, along with other funding sources, are what allow the Piqua Arts Council to promote and support, and continue to grow, the offering of art programs, workshops, and community events that contribute positively to the cultural experiences and quality of life found in the Piqua community .

Many volunteers and supporters of the Dancing with the Piqua Stars event are to be commended for their efforts. To our dance stars, Jill Trevino, Teresa Anderson, Gretchen Lorenz, Mary Frances Rodriquez, Chuck Black, Cris Valdez, Mike Cox, and Bruce Jamison, and to their professional dance partners Kristene Clark, Sarah Jones, Amy Williams, Maria Hogston, Scott Clark, Bill Hogston, Mark Jones, and Bill Holtvogt, thank you for your time, energy, and commitment to this cause. The display of talent and poise each of you exhibited the evening of the performance was exceptional! A special thanks to Rick and Judy Bowerman, owners of RJ Ballroom, who provide the dance instruction and choreography expertise that makes the event possible. Rick and Judy, we thank you for your time and dedication to the DWTPS event, and for enriching all of our lives through the fine art of dance. To our judges, master of ceremony, DJ, alumni dance stars, photographers, video crew, lighting crew, bartenders, caterer, servers, ticket takers, vote registrars, facility support staff, event committee, and everyone else who contributed to the success of this event, thank you for your contributions!

And to all of you, the citizens and businesses of Piqua and the surrounding area, please know that your support of the Piqua Arts Council is neither assumed nor taken for granted. We sincerely appreciate all that you provide to support the work of the Piqua Arts Council. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Chris Schmiesing
