Y to host swim program
PIQUA — The Piqua Branch of the Miami County YMCA will be hosting the annual Fourth Grade Swim program the weeks of April 26-29, May 3-6, and May 9-12. This program is designed to teach local fourth graders basic swimming skills, safety around pools and water, and introduce them to canoeing.
There will be almost 300 local fourth graders participating from both Piqua City Schools and Piqua Catholic. The program is sponsored by The Donnelly Donor Advised Fund at the Piqua Community Foundation.

Walking tour slated
PIQUA — The city of Piqua and the Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a Downtown Riverfront Development walking tour beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Fort Piqua Plaza.
The tour includes the Zollinger building, Mo’s building, Lock 9 Park, Edison Illuminating building, and Canal Corridor.
The walking tour is an opportunity to get inside these historic structures and take the first look of redesigned public spaces. Each stop will allow participants to learn the history of the buildings, appreciate the architecture and view the redesign plans.
Networking and refreshments will follow afterward in the Fort Piqua Plaza Banquet Center.

Kiwanis set May meetings
PIQUA — The Piqua Kiwanis Club has scheduled the following meetings for May:
• May 4 — “Exciting Happenings Downtown” Lorna Swisher, Mainstreet Piqua executive director
• May 11 — A Comprehensive Reading Program “Free to Read” at the Bethany Center with Jozan Harmon
• May 18 — Update on the “River Front Development” with Chris Schmiesing, city planner (Department of Planning and Zoning)
• May 25 — Piqua Area United Fund Executive Director Sean Ford
