Christmas applications accepted

PIQUA — For those families in need of a helping hand for Christmas who missed the original application days, the Salvation Army will be having make-up days for applications on Thursday, Nov. 2 and Friday, Nov. 3. The make-up days will be by appointment only.

Please stop by the Salvation Army office at 129 S. Wayne St. in Piqua prior to the make up dates between 9 a.m. to noon or 12:30-3 p.m. to schedule an appointment and get a flyer that shares the documentation necessary for the application.

Veteran IDs available

TROY — Veteran Identification cards are available through the Miami County Recorder’s Office. Veteran ID cards may be obtained by appointment only.

The cost to obtain a veteran ID card is $1. Veterans must have the original or an official certified copy of their DD-214. Veterans with a discharge status of “honorable” or “general, under honorable conditions” are eligible to receive a veteran ID card.

Veteran ID cards can be used to obtain discounts and benefits at participating retail establishments. Veteran ID cards can also be used as an alternative form of voter identification. Veteran ID cards expire 10 years after the date of issuance. Veteran ID cards issued by the county can not be used to obtain VA benefits.

To schedule an appointment, contact the Miami County Recorder’s Office at 440-6040. To obtain a copy of your DD-214, call the Miami County Veterans’ Services Office at 440-8126.

Kiwanis set meetings

PIQUA — The Piqua Kiwanis Club has scheduled the following meetings for November:

• Nov. 1: New Evening Meeting at Buffalo Wings and Rings, 989 E. Ash St., Piqua, 5:30-7 p.m. No lunch. Meeting at Grace United Methodist Church, 411 N. County Road 25-A, Piqua

• Nov. 8: Kiwanis member spotlight: Don Smith

• Nov. 15: Club working meeting focusing on projects/club activities

• Nov. 22: Spiritual Aims Committee will present a program on Thanksgiving

• Nov. 29: “Piqua Community Foundation” with Karen Wendeln, executive director

Kiwanis meetings are open to the public. The first Wednesday of the month will be an informal evening meeting at Wings and Rings,. All other meetings will be a noon luncheon and meeting on Wednesdays at Grace Methodist Church. Reservations are required by noon on the Monday prior to each meeting. Craft show planned

BRADFORD — Friends of Bradford Public Library will hold their Annual Craft Show from 9-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. Any interested crafters should contact Carolyn at (937) 448-2285 or contact the library and give your contact information to a staff librarian at (937) 448-2612.

Gift shop to host fundraiser

TROY — The Upper Valley Medical Center Gift Shop will host a Book and Consumer Goods Sale fundraiser open to the community on Nov. 14 and 15 in the hospital cafeteria on the lower level.

Hours for this sale will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Featured items will include specially priced books, toys and games, electronics, puzzles, and unique gift items for all ages.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the UVMC Volunteer Auxiliary, which supports the hospital with a volunteer force, annual scholarships, and funding for special projects and equipment.
