Run/walk set at Charleston Falls

TIPP CITY — The Miami County Park District’s Trail Run Challenge 5K continues with a run/walk from 9-11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at Charleston Falls Preserve, located at 2535 Ross Road, Tipp City. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 24.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and costs $25. Racers age 4 and under are free. To register online, go to AllianceRunning.com.

Dog social to take place

PIQUA — The Miami County Park District will hold its monthly Dog Social on Sept. 18 from 1 -3 p.m. at Garbry Big Woods Reserve, 6660 Casstown-Sidney Road, east of Piqua.

If your dog is nice and plays well with others, bring them to the park to take part in the “Summer Dog Olympics.” Compete in popular dog games such as water trials, high jump, broad jump, catch the ball and many more. Please remember owners are responsible for their dogs. Please clean up after your pet.

Purse Bingo benefit slated

PIQUA — A Purse Bingo benefit for Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County will be held Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Miami Valley Centre Mall.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the food court area. Tickets for the event are limited and cost $25, or $30 at the door on the day of the event. Ticketholders receive a small Vera Bradley gift and are entered to win an authentic Vera Bradley purse and over 20 other prizes. The event also includes a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, raffle and refreshments.

Tickets are available at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County, 550 Summit Ave., Suite 101, and For All Seasons at 2 W. Main St. in Troy. Tickets are also available online at www.hospiceofmiamicounty.org. Only 175 tickets will be sold. In case of a sold-out event, reserved tickets not paid for by 6 p.m. the evening of the event may be sold.

Lions offer carryout dinners

BRADFORD — The Bradford Lions are having a BBQ chicken and pork dinner on Sunday, Oct. 1. All dinners are carryout and presale tickets at $7 each are needed.

Tickets are available at both Bradford banks, Littman-Thomas Insurance, Bradford office, or from any Bradford Lions or Lioness members. You may also call Kathy Myers at (937) 448-2667 or Joanne Ferree at (937) 620-7225 by the ticket deadline purchase date of Sunday, Sept. 24

Dinners consist of two pork chops or one-half BBQ chicken served with applesauce, chips, and roll with butter prepared by Romer’s.

All profits will go toward purchase of eye glasses and eye exams, recognition of Bradford students, and other ongoing Bradford Lions community projects.

Brukner hosts Dine to Donate

TROY — Help support the wildlife at Brukner Nature Center at Buffalo Wild Wings in Troy, located at 2313 W. Main St., from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 26.

Buffalo Wild Wings will donate a percentage of your food bill to Brukner Nature Center. A flyer must be presented at check-out. Flyers are available on our website bruknernaturecenter.com, at the Interpretive Building, or email info@bruknernaturecenter.com. Offer is good for dine-in or carryout.

Sing-along planned at Hayner

The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is pleased to host a Cabaret & Cabernet with the David Wion Trio on Friday evening, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m.

This musical evening is free and open to the public and is intended for an adult audience. The public is invited to participate in a Broadway sing-along in the Hayner’s Ballroom complete with cabaret tables, hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks. Wine will be available for purchase.

Lyric sheets of all time favorite Broadway tunes will be provided for the sing-a-long.

Entries sought for cutest baby contest

MINSTER — The Minster-New Bremen Right to Life will be holding their “Cutest Baby Contest” during the Minster Oktoberfest, Sept. 29 through Oct. 1. They will be located under the tent between Visiting Angels and Car Quest on Fourth Street. The contest is open to anyone up to the age of 3. Please send a photo, no larger than 8-by-10 inches in size, to Minster-New Bremen Right to Life, care of Amy Hilgefort, 121 S. Hanover St., Minster. Please no cardboard, plastic or glass picture frames. Include on the back of the photo the child’s name, parents’ names, phone number and address so the photo can be returned. The deadline to enter is noon on Sept. 29.
