Garage sales planned

BRADFORD — Bradford Community Garage Sales will be held Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20.

Film ‘Wit’ to be screened

WEST MILTON — Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County founder and medical director, Mark Hess, M.D., will be lead a discussion that is open to the public following a screening of the film “Wit” on Friday, May 19, in West Milton. The event will be held at 9 a.m. at Nashville United Church of Christ, 4540 W. State Route 571.

“Wit” chronicles the experience of a successful businesswoman diagnosed with a terminal illness, providing insight into end-of-life issues. The screening will be followed by an open discussion and is free of charge to the public.

Sock & Buskin to hold auditions

PIQUA — Sock & Buskin Players will hold auditions for their summer musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” Saturday, June 3, at Grace United Methodist Church, 9411 N. County Road 25A, Piqua. Performers ages 10-13 will audition from 10 a.m. to noon. Auditions for ages 14-up will be from 1-3 p.m.

Director Liz Maxson says everyone should wear comfortable shoes and gym shoes (no flip-flops) and prepare a song to sing. An accompanist and CD player will be provided for music. A cappella auditions are welcome as well. All performers may do a cold reading and/or learn a dance as part of the audition.

Principle parts include Narrator; Joseph; Jacob; Joseph’s Brothers: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Naphtali, Essachar, Asher, Dan, Zebulon, Gad, Benjamin, Judah, Potiphar; and Mrs. Potiphar, Butler, Baker, and Pharaoh.

There are also an abundance of ensemble parts.

The musical will be performed at the church on Aug. 11-12.
