Quarter auction planned

PIQUA — The Piqua High School Show Choir will host its eighth annual quarter auction from 7-9 p.m. Dec. 8, at the Piqua High School commons/cafeteria. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. to preview the auction items. A concessions stand will be available. The initial cost is $2 per paddle, and the per-item auction price ranges from 25 cents to $1, based on the value of the item.

DAR to hold Christmas meeting

TROY — The Piqua-Lewis Boyer DAR December meeting will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Troy Hayner Cultural Center located at 301 W. Main St. in Troy. The meeting will be a Christmas Tea and Talent Auction. Guests are welcome.

Please bring unwrapped gifts for the veterans (men or women). Items will be delivered to the VA in Dayton. If you are unsure of an item please contact Carol DeHart, veterans chair. The talent auction is a fundraiser of homemade items that are auctioned with all proceeds for the chapter.

Choirs hosting holiday concert

PIQUA – Piqua High School’s various choirs are hosting their holiday concert at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11. The talented women’s, men’s and concert choirs will be performing at the high school’s Hartzell Performing Arts Center, and the performances are free and open to the public. The stage will be adorned with flowers and festive decorations, and the choirs will be accompanied by local musicians. To offset the cost of these tremendous concerts, there will be a cookie sale before and after each concert.

Wion to play Hayner

TROY — The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is pleased to have David Wion present two musical Christmas concerts on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 1 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public.

Wion is known throughout the area for his piano concerts and for being a part of the Twilight Concert Series and Afternoon Musicale series at the Dayton Art Institute. He will perform holiday favorites such as “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “What Child Is This,” “White Christmas,” “The Christmas Song” and many more. Wion will be joined by vocalists Justin Williams and Gregory J. Ashe.

Come early and tour the beautifully decorated Hayner House. Refreshments will be served after each concert.
