Residents, businesses recognized for achievements
TIPP CITY — Nominations are now being accepted for the Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year and Young Professional of the Year awards presented by the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce. This recognition is awarded annually to businesses and individuals who show a significant, worthwhile contribution to the community.
Businesses nominated must be established for a minimum of three years and be located in Tipp City. Individuals nominated must be residents of Tipp City.
A list of past recipients, 2016 nomination forms and additional information about the award criteria are available at www.tippcitychamber.org or at the chamber office located at 12 S. 3rd St., Tipp City.
Completed nominations should be received at the Tipp City Chamber by 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11. The awards will be presented at the chamber’s annual Holiday Gala on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Veterans health fair set
TROY — Miami County Public Health (MCPH) will be hosting a Veterans Day Health Fair on Monday, November 7, 2016 from 10am-3pm for Veterans and widows of Veterans. MCPH has partnered with Miami County Veteran’s Services, Miami County Dental Clinic, Miami County Recovery Council, Miami Valley Honor Flight and Trinity Reiki to offer a variety of services.
It will be held at the Hobart Center for County Government, 510 W. Water St., Troy.
Veterans are encouraged to come to this fair to get questions answered about benefits that may be available to them and how to apply for benefits as well. MCPH will provide flu and pneumonia shots, blood pressure screens, BMI (body mass index) check, hearing and vision screenings, free HIV testing and diabetic foot checks. Trinity Reiki will provide information about the balance of body, mind & spirit and Miami County Dental Clinic will provide dental screens. Miami County Recovery Council and the Miami Valley Honor Flight will both provide briefings to attendees.
There will also be food and refreshments provided during the lunch hour period.
“We are proud to offer this health fair to veterans again this year,” said Miami County Public Health, Health Commissioner Dennis Propes. “The health fair was a great success last year and we are eager to make it another great success this year.”
