Poppy Days continues until Sunday

PIQUA — The American Legion family of Post 184 will be out in the community until Sunday, asking for donations to help veterans and families with bills, assembling ditty bags for nursing homes and other needs that veterans encounter. Legion members will be at Kroger and at the Piqua Post Office to accept donations. The red poppy is the symbol of the donation program, which began following World War II. The flower grows in the battlefields in France, where many lives were lost. The poppy that is passed out to those who make donations are handmade by veterans who reside at the Sandusky, Ohio VA home.
