PIQUA — A male suspect reportedly ran from Piqua police officers after a warrant was served on a residence on Boone Street on Tuesday evening. The suspect — Jesse J. Alexander, 22, of Piqua — had a warrant for his arrest, according to Piqua Chief of Police Bruce Jamison.
“We had information he was in a house on Boone Street,” Jamison said, adding that officers also had information that the suspect “might be armed.”
Given the possibility of facing an armed suspect, the officers took extra precautions. Approximately four or five officers were there to serve the warrant and the officers had their weapons drawn when Alexander allegedly fled from police.
Alexander reportedly made it into a car before leaving the car behind in an alley behind the 700 block of Park Avenue. Piqua police then caught Alexander in a back yard on Park Avenue.
Alexander was taken into custody at approximately 7:40 p.m. Tuesday evening and is currently being held at the Miami County Jail. Alexander is facing charges of fifth-degree felony receiving stolen property and first-degree misdemeanor receiving stolen property.
