PIQUA — The following are highlights from the Piqua police reports. All information is provided by Piqua police reports.
CITIZEN ASSIST: A Piqua officer responded to a report of the railroad crossing signal malfunctioning at the Garbry Road crossing on Jan. 11 at 10:35 a.m. The signal “was checked and found to be malfunctioning,” according to police reports. “CSX was contacted and advised.”
ALARM: An alarm at the utility office at Piqua’s municipal building signaled that there was reportedly a customer upset over a billing dispute on Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. The male willingly left the premises.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT: There was a report of male in the road near 1 More on the 300 block of Wood Street “yelling at passing cars” on Jan. 11 at 11:28 a.m., according to police reports. The male was located and stated that he had been walking in the road to avoid slipping on ice on the sidewalks.
TRAFFIC STOP: A traffic stop in the area of Cedarbrook Drive and Covington Avenue found a driver allegedly driving under suspension on Jan. 11 at 12:20 p.m. The officer noted the vehicle had a “strong odor” of marijuana, and the driver reportedly provided the officer with marijuana that he had attempted to hide. Phillip J. Mote, 44, of Piqua was cited for fourth-degree misdemeanor drug abuse in connection with this incident.
THEFT: There was a report of a theft from a construction site at the 1200 block of E. Ash Street on Jan. 12 at 11:25 a.m.
ASSAULT: A victim reported getting punched in the face on the 500 block of W. Water Street on Jan. 12 at noon.
A female juvenile allegedly assaulted her mother on Jan. 12. The juvenile was charged with first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence in connection with this incident.
TRESPASSING: There was a report of two vehicles allegedly driving recklessly and damaging property at Piqua Apostolic Church on the 800 block of Covington Avenue on Jan. 12 at 2 p.m.
OVI: Piqua police responded to a two vehicle accident on the 800 block of Park Avenue on Jan. 12 at 7:15 p.m. One party reportedly left the scene but was found. Douglas A. Penny, 51, of Piqua was charged with first-degree misdemeanor OVI-under the influence in connection with this incident.
