PIQUA — A stucture fire on Kitt Street displaced a Piqua family early Saturday morning.
Firefighters were called to 520 Kitt St. around 12:30 a.m. for a fire in the attic of the residence.
Captain Chad Kennedy said that while the fire was difficult to get at due to it being located in an attic with wood shake shingles overhead, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within a short period of time.
Kennedy said that the family, a father and two sons, were able to evacuate the residence before firefighters arrived on the scene and that no one was injured.
Covington Fire Department provided mutual aide.
While the cause is still undetermined, it is believed to be electrical in nature.
The home was extensively damaged, the second floor by smoke and the floor below by water. It is described as uninhabitable at this time.
Firefighters were on the scene for several hours.
