PIQUA — The Piqua Optimist Club held its annual Tri Star Basketball competition on Saturday, March 17 at Piqua Central Intermediate School.

Physical education teachers from Piqua City Schools and Piqua Catholic School held preliminary competitions and sent representatives from each school to the competition. Students were asked to demonstrate skills in passing, shooting and dribbling for the contest.

Trophies were given to boys and girls placing first, second and third in three age categories.

The winners were:

• Girls, ages 8-9 — First place: Rylee Weldon; second place: Haylie Schultz; third place: Campell O’Neal

• Boys, ages 8-9 — First place: Jace Palmer; second place: Finian O’Leary; third place: Katon Bolden

• Girls, ages 10-11 — First place: Logan Spradlin; second place: Miley Heffelfinger; third place: Bailey Cooper

• Boys, ages 10-11 — First place: Evan O’Leary; second place: Gavin Larger; third place: Gus Richard

• Boys, ages 12-13 — First place: Donovan O’Leary; second place: James Larger
