FFA competes in county, district contests


CASSTOWN — Recently members of the Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter recently participated in the 2017 FFA County and District Novice Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Events. The county competition was hosted at Miami East High School and the District competition was hosted at Fort Loramie High School.

Participating was Novice Period 4 — Team Blue were team members Chair Erin Baker, Vice Chair Carter Gilbert, Anna Broerman, Lauren Wright, Meadow Powers, Cole Mergler, Arielle Barnes, CJ Vanpelt, and Coleman Demmitt.

Participating was Novice Period 4 — Team White were team members Chair Abbey Lauck, Vice Chair Jarrett Winner, Sarah Blocher, Seth Wells, Ethan Swindell, Jeffery Blackford, Leann Vernon, Jimmy Sutherly, and Adam Bensman.

Participating in Novice Period 5 — Team Blue were team members Chair Morgan Nosker, Vice Chair Natalie Bair, Camrey Jordan, Isabella Waite, Libby Carpenter, Abigail Covault, and Paige Pence.

Participating in Novice Period 5 — Team White were team members Chair Tyler Laycox, Vice Chair Sydney Preston, Makayla Brittain, Justin Hawkins, Grace Slone, Caleb Taylor, and Jacob Sweitzer.

The students showed their knowledge of Parliamentary Procedure by holding a mock meeting and giving quality discussion on motions. Participants were given two minutes preparation time and asked to demonstrate parliamentary procedure abilities including FFA Opening and Closing Ceremonies in a 15 minute time period.

Advancing to the District Competition at Fort Loramie High School was Novice Period 5 – Team Blue. Representing Miami East-MVCTC FFA were Chair Morgan Nosker, Vice Chair Natalie Bair, Sydney Preston, Libby Carpenter, Isabella Waite, Paige Pence, Tyler Laycox, and Abigail Covault. The team placed fourth. This is the highest placing in the school’s recent history.
